Best 3D PC Gaming Monitor 2012
3D can take your gaming to the next level. In 2012 several new 3D led gaming monitors were finally released which are able to enhance the clarity for your games in both 2D and 3D.
What Should You Look For?
When looking for a 3D monitor you may taken certain factors into consideration. Screen size is certainly important because if you choose a monitor that is too large it can force you to strain your eyes or want to move farther away from your computer while a monitor that is too small sometimes does not allow the viewing space or size you need in order to see all the details. Productivity 501 mentions that the most productive viewing size for a "personal" viewing monitor is 24 inches ; however, monitors meant to be mounted on the wall or viewed from a distance of greater than 3 feet away would ideally be larger. It's also important to determine whether the monitor has a 120 hertz refresh rate that is consistent for both 2D and 3D. Not all monitors do this so be sure to check the manufacturer's specifications.
Because 3D computer monitors are made mainly for gaming and movies you'll want to look at monitors that have both a fast response time of 3ms or less and a high refresh rate of around 120hz or with Dual LCD technology effectively 60hz for each eye. A fast response time decreases ghosting and blurring that can sometimes occur in less expensive monitors while a high refresh rate creates a smooth picture that can run at a higher fps. Response times are often over advertised while input lag is sometimes an even more important benchmark. In order to find out your monitor's input lag you'd have to test it with a CRT monitor and software. Some even use a simply stop watch. Because most of you don't have a CRT monitor I recommend looking online at forums and review sites for input lag information about any monitor you purchase.

ASUS VG236H 3D Gaming Monitor Review
My choice for best 23-24 Inch 3d Monitor of 2012 is the ASUS VG236H 23-Inch 120 Hz 3D PC Monitor.
The blazing fast 2 ms response time coupled with the 120 hz refresh rate allows for super smooth gaming and movie experiences. The pivot and swivel options that ASUS has included (see the featured picture) are perfect for easily adjusting the screen where you need it and the 3-year warranty shows that Asus has confidence in their product.
When you aren't using the 3D technology you get the benefits of one of the best looking monitors in the market. The same high-end level specifications that allow it to be used with 3D technology also give it smooth blur-free rendering while gaming.
Another key feature to this particular package is that it comes with a nVidia 3D vision kit which includes a pair of wireless 3d vision glasses which if bought separately could cost you well over $100.
Glare Free Anti-reflection Technology
If you've ever used a monitor in a well-lit room, then you know how important a glare-free coating can be for your monitor. Even in a well-lit room the VG236H uses Asus' color shine technology which gets rid of the annoying reflection often caused by light.

What consumers are saying about the ASUS VG236H 23-Inch 120 Hz 3D Monitor:
"This bundle is simply the best deal there is for anyone who is new to 3d."
"The resolution on this monitor is great. The stand and base is sturdy with good height adjustment. The base swivels with ease making this monitor easy to adjust. Easy to setup and comes with the basic cables. This monitor is wonderful without the 3D option! The 3D kit is complete with nice long USB cables so you get locate your emitter and glasses on top of your desk or console area...I must say the 3D ready games are awesome with this unit. You can find a long list of games that are 3D ready or supported. WOW and others coded for 3D are fantastic. League of Legends was not on the list, but nevertheless I did get some 3D effect in the game which is cool."
"The 3D kit was very simple to set up in general. I had some issues where I had to uninstall my video drivers entirely and install the 3d ones from scratch. The kit doesn't really make a note of this so it took me a good while to get things working when I first installed the 3d drivers over my current one and was getting an error. Past that, just following the on-screen instructions should pretty much get you ready in no time. In addition, when you load up many games, a pop-up shows on your screen telling you how good the 3D support is for that title and informing you of any settings you may need to change, very handy. "

Comments
Thanks for your comment mac. I typically update all of my articles every month or two so they normally stay up-to-date... otherwise all of the "2011" in the title would age very quickly.
Thanks for the clarification.
I do still think listing an actual date of last update is an important practice!
I'm not familiar with this site, so I didn't know the articles got updated. Anyway, who is to know whether or not the author ever actually updates them?
On another note, one thing lacking in this article is why the monitor selected is the best. What makes it stand out above the others? Is it outright the best of the compared monitors, or is it the best bang-for-the-buck? Which one was 2nd-best? Was it close? Let the reader in on your process, otherwise they have no reason to trust your judgement.
Thanks
Thanks for the advice.
As I mentioned above this short article is based off the 3D monitor which is best rated and through various manufacturer websites is bestselling. The ASUS VG236H does in fact fit that mold.
